What is Really Empire? What is not!

Disintegration of the word Empire in order to  find the essence and meaning

     Today, we shall study the word of Empire through conceptual analyses perspectives. The concept of Empire is very ambiguous and vague. examining it from the prizm of Conceptual analysis may give us a fully shaped opinion on the world of “Empire”!

     One the most outstanding approaches has been done to precisely analyze the concept of Empire by S.I Kaspe. According to Kaspe (2001) the perfect Empire owns huge territory, ethnical heterogeneity and tendency to expansion. What is important, according to him, is that integral feature of Empire is “core-periphery” model. Any empire has some center, very powerful, and built around this center. Periphery is all other parts of Empire. And the important thing is that Empire has unequal relationship between Corestate and periphery of one or more states controlled from the Corestate. Nevertheless, from the begging, we can surely say that there is not precise and strict identification of word. It differs from politics to economics.

In the beginning of conceptual analyses of the word Empire we have to construct research design, which will help us to bring rational and right answers on building an “Empire concept.”According to triangle-model of Ogden and Richards (1923) we should consider term, meaning and referent of the given concept.  It is very important to distinguish these categories, because term is not the same as its meaning, what can be much broader and much more diverse.

1. is to find the definition of the word(during this level we shall face many difinition of the world.
2. is to find appropriate model of observings
3. is to filter the word from other elements (synonyms)

The world Empire has different colors, meaning place to place and scholars to scholars.             For instance, online Dictionary says that Empire is a group of nations or peoples ruled over by an emperor, empress, or other powerful sovereign or government: usually a territory of greater extent than a kingdom, as the former British Empire, French Empire, Russian Empire, Byzantine Empire, or Roman Empire(mostly political approaches).

From (economical approaches) to Empire is powerful and important enterprise or holding of large scope that iscontrolled by a single person, family, or group of associates[1]

While Oxford dictionary points out that, an Empire is an extensive group of states or countries ruled over by a single monarch, an oligarchy, or a sovereign state(again political approach).

Accordingly, Britannica dictionary says that Empire major political unit in which the metropolis, or single authority, exercises control over territory of great extent or a number of territories or peoples through formal annexations or various forms of informal domination.

According Tom Nairn and Paul James define empires as polities that: extend relations of power through great territories over which they have no prior or given legal sovereignty, and where more of the obeys of economics, politics, and culture, they take some measure of increase power over those spaces for the purpose of extracting.

Therefore, the world Empire has a long background that may be more than thousand years. From the ancient Rome till Japan Empire which can be the last Empire in the human kind (after WWII Japan lost real Empire size and signs. Right now, it keeps symbolic title of Imperator.) In the history, we had many Empires, which had capacity and quality which we mentioned above for instance: British Empire, French Empire, Russian Empire, Byzantine Empire, or Roman Empire.

There are three types of observation of Empire word they are : direct observable capable of being or liable to be observed; noticeable; visible; discernible, operational able to function or be used; functional and theoretical. Existing only in theory; hypothetical or given to, forming, or dealing with theories; speculative.

From our perspective, operational method of Empire is appropriate and valid.

  • Statement of the goals  and objectives of the Empire

  The one of the goals and objectives of the Empire is expansions/annexation/enlarging. In addition, if Empire expired it’s energy for maximizing i’t size than it tries to keep unity within territory.

  • Strategies, tactics, politics, and constraints affecting the system of Empire

  Strategies, tactics, politics of Empire exercises hard power and obeying with perseverance to the outside world and within inside of the Empire.

  • Organizations, activities, and interactions among participants of the Empire with other participants of the World community are differs. Mostly relations with others goes up down/vertically since, Empire has a unlimited power while others not.
  • Clear statement of responsibilities and authorities delegated by the Empire. In real life Empires chose/find it’s responsibility in front of the world community and it is not bounded to obey to other above substantives, since it consider itself as head of others.

In addition, it’s size with different nations inside, obtaining of pure power, legitimacy and monopoly of single person through everything. Like Attributed to Louis XIV of France who said, “State is me” but not you to the French Parliament or “the Wilhelm II said that Headquarters of Germany is me”. In addition to observable, that Empire has long life distance in the comparison with state or any government.

Filtering the Empire from other elements such as Monarchy, State, Federation, or Union

Empire is an extensive group of states or countries with large territory ruled over by a single imperator.

Monarchy is a form of government with a monarch at the head and usually ruled by single person. (see Saudi Arabia Monarchy)

State is a nation or territory considered as an organized political community under one government. (see French state)

Federation is a group of states with a central government but independence in internal affairs (see Russia Federation).

Union is an action of joining or the fact of being joined together of states, especially in a economy and political context in order to gain benefit and states have right to leave the Union any time. see European Union (Oxford dictionary).

So, we can see that Empire has it’s own colors and can be identified by its size, multiplicity of nations, concentrations of power in single hand, unlimited power and intentions to annexation of territories and rise of might

To allude what we said above, we came to the conclusion on the word of Empire through conceptual analyses is vogue and it can be implemented to describe in very different directions from politics till economy with end of culturology.
